Great campground with nearby streams. Lots of rainy days.
Beautiful place, though to be honest there was no one else there when we stayed so had the place to ourselves. A few RV pull through sites. Water available in the middle of the campground except in winter. Check out the hot springs down the road and climb the mountain, the trail head starts at the entrance. Windy road to get there and no stores or gas stations up there.

After looking up best camping in NM, El Porvenir was number one. So, after four nights in Black Canyon Campground, I went to El Porvenir. I was disappointed. I expected more than what I experienced at Black Canyon and felt like the person suggesting EP had never been there. Yes, it's remote, but the campground and scenery were much less than at Black Canyon. The campsite has no water, the sites are not as developed as Black Canyon, and the other campers are much louder (families combine campsites, which doesn't happen at BC). The only thing I liked was the Hermits Peak hiking trail, which was outstanding. But one doesn't have to camp at EP to hike the trail. And, it's the same price as BC.
